What a wonderful summer of weddings it has been! As wedding photographers, Martin and I always look forward to the summer months. The longer days, beautiful light, wedding venue grounds in full bloom and the opportunity to photograph so much of the celebrations outside make summer such a lovely time of year for weddings. However this summer did feel a little different.
Mary and Gary’s Church Wedding and Reception at the very special and unique Albright Hussey Manor
The Albright Hussy Manor is very special to Martin and myself – we got married there on 20 April 2003 and in 2028 it will be our 25th Wedding Anniversary and well there has to be a celebration for sure!

Do not leave this gorgeous Wedding Venue off your short list – there’s something very magical that happens at The Manor – it is family owned/run and boy – it shows – so friendly and so professional – a very unique and romantic Wedding Venue – with the options for really very big Weddings to very small intimate Weddings – all are so wonderful at The Albright Hussey Manor!

We certainly had some beautiful summer weddings this year, but we also experienced something that has become increasingly noticeable over recent years – periods of very high temperatures. Jayne & Matt’s Wedding on 10 July this year was one such day at Eastridge Glamping near Pontesbury, Shropshire.

However the love just shone through – it was a magical day! Below Jayne WhatsApp to me after we had supplied their edited photos:“Oh Julia and Martin , they are truly exceptional , we can’t thank you enough for capturing the day so perfect, a great mix of candid shots and more formal ones …. Of course, extreme weather conditions do not take away from the joy of photographing a Wedding. Quite the opposite! I remember knee-deep snow many years ago which was magical!

We have still loved every minute of being part of these very special days, and there have been so many wonderful moments, happy couples and beautiful memories to capture. And there is something rather lovely about looking back at a summer of weddings and remembering all those different couples, venues, families and celebrations that we have been privileged to photograph.
The Changing Seasons
And now, almost without us noticing, the season is beginning to change. The days are getting shorter, the light has a softer quality and there is a noticeable difference in the air. Wedding Venue grounds are beginning to lose their summer brightness and the first signs of autumn are appearing. For us, this is when weddings begin to take on a completely different character.

There is something special about the changing seasons. Wedding photography isn’t just about sunshine and blue skies – every season brings its own atmosphere, colours and opportunities for beautiful photographs. After the heat of summer, there is something rather refreshing about cooler temperatures and those gorgeous autumnal colours beginning to appear. We particularly love being up at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel for Autumn Weddings.

Autumn Weddings

Autumn Weddings have a magic all of their own. The changing leaves can provide the most beautiful natural backdrop, while the softer light can create a wonderful warmth in photographs. There is often a cosier feeling to the celebrations too, with couples and guests spending more time together indoors and enjoying the atmosphere of the day. And then there are those lovely autumn evenings when the light begins to fade earlier. It can create some really beautiful opportunities for photographs and gives the whole day a slightly different feel from those long summer evenings.

Of course, Autumn weather can be unpredictable – but that is part of the fun! Sometimes the most unexpected weather creates some of the most memorable images. As we move from summer into autumn and eventually towards winter, we are reminded once again of just how much variety there is in Wedding Photography.

Every season has something different to offer. For us, that is one of the things we have always loved about what we do. After so many years [23] of photographing Weddings, no two wedding days are ever quite the same – and the changing seasons are another part of what makes each one unique. So, as we say goodbye to another wonderful summer of weddings, we are looking forward to embracing the beautiful colours, softer light and different atmosphere that Autumn and winter will bring. And, as always, we can’t wait to see what the next wedding season has in store for us.

A Lovely Summer of Unique Weddings
WEDDINGS SO UNIQUE
We’ve been so lucky to be part of some truly beautiful celebrations, each one completely its own world for a day. That’s still one of the things we love most about what we do. There are no templates, no repeats, just real people and real stories unfolding in front of us.
In recent weeks we have had the pleasure of photographing Weddings at Quaint Country Weddings. This was the wonderful Wedding of Leoni & Danny on 23 May 2026. Then on 27 May 2026 we were at a Church near Ellesmere and after at The Albright Hussey Manor which was an amazing day for Mary & Gary.
For anyone who knows a bit about Martin and me – we got married at The Albright Hussey Manor. It is the most wonderful, beautiful and unique wedding venue. A family-run wedding venue and run by the most fantastic and very dedicated team.
Quaint Country Weddings is also a fav – truly unique – and is only 8 minutes drive from us on the back of Long Mountain. This private marquee venue is owned and run by Janet & Keith. They are truly wonderful hosts and make weddings so very special. At the time of posting I believe that you can get married in the beautiful black & white church which is next to the marquee venue.
At the Wedding on 23 May 2026 we had the pleasure of working with Derrick from P.V.P. Systems Television. We have known Derrick well in fact since we started photographing weddings back in 2003. We had not seen him for a long time and it was lovely to catch up. If you go to his Facebook page you will see a highlight film of has produced of the wedding. It includes drone footage which shows just what a beautiful situation Quaint Country Weddings enjoys! The views are really something to be seen.
For the first time also we also worked with a ‘content creator’ Layla of Snap & Social. We have both agreed that it was great fun working together.
As the summer continues, we still have several wonderful weddings coming up, and as we gently move towards the next season, we’re looking forward to everything still to come — more celebrations, and more of those amazing moments unique to each day.

As couples plan their Wedding Celebrations for 2026 and beyond, one thing is becoming very clear – Weddings are getting more personal, more playful and far more expressive. Tradition is still there if wanted – always will be and it’s wonderful, however it’s no longer the rulebook. Retro Romance & Playful Nostalgia
Nostalgia is having a moment, and couples are leaning into it in wonderfully fun ways. Retro-inspired entertainment is popping up at receptions, designed to give guests a shared experience that sparks conversation and laughter. Think vintage arcade games, pinball machines, air hockey tables and even classic claw machines filled with quirky prizes.
It’s all about creating a relaxed, joyful atmosphere where guests can interact, unwind and feel like kids again. For couples who grew up loving old-school games (or just want something a little different), this trend adds personality and plenty of photo-worthy moments.

Goodbye Wedding Neutrals, Hello Wedding Colour

Over the years, we’ve come to truly believe very strongly that all Wedding Ceremonies are important. Whether they are large celebrations or simple, intimate occasions.

Some of our couples marry legally at a Register Office and then have a Celebrant led Ceremony at a beautiful venue which might not be licensed for legal Ceremonies.

We are very happy to photograph Register Office Ceremonies, and we have structured our pricing to make this accessible and stress-free.
Our Wedding Photography Packages for Register Office Weddings start at £295 – and can be split into several monthly payments.
This includes:
Martin and I arriving 15–20 minutes before the ceremony at your Shropshire or Powys Register Office
Photography of your arrival and your Ceremony
Around 20 minutes of photographs after the Ceremony, if there are suitable grounds or nearby locations
We always have a briefing meeting pre-Wedding – so we would meet up before the Big Day
If you are continuing on to a reception or celebration afterwards, we are very happy to quote for additional coverage – so your day is fully documented.
Very Flexible Payment Options
We understand that planning a wedding often means juggling many costs at once. To help with this, we offer payment by instalments, tailored to your Wedding Date – so it could be quite a number of months.
We have found that this allows our couples to spread the cost over several months, making professional Wedding Photography more manageable and affordable.

The smallest Wedding Ceremony we have covered was in fact at Lake Windermere several years ago and it was just our couple and us and we were their Witnesses. We had photographed the Bride’s Sister’s Wedding at Rowton Castle in Shropshire and we were asked if we would go to Lake Windermere on a Thursday – and we said – of course!
Martin and I have often been Witnesses at Weddings.
Another memorable day was at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel in Powys when the Bride just had her Sister there and I was a Witness for them – such an honour!
Our aim is always the same: to create timeless photographs that protect your memories and allow you to relive them for years to come.
We have always primarily been Shropshire Wedding Photographers. Although we have been to York, Taunton and Essex even France for our Weddings over the years… we will go wherever we are wanted really and if logistically possible!

Whether it’s a short Register Office Ceremony [we’ve several Register Office Ceremonies this year and if we are available we are always happy to be there], so if your plans are for a weekday celebration, or just a few hours spent with your closest family and friends, these intimate weddings are full of warmth, connection and beautiful moments.
We’ve availability on Sundays, weekdays and some Saturdays. If you’re planning something relaxed, personal and full of heart — we’d be delighted to hear from you.

We have some lovely Weddings in our diary this year and are very much looking forward to photographing them all – we are so lucky to be there at so many different celebrations of love! [sorry Julia here – and I am an incurable romantic!]
One thing I will mention too is that if you are planning a private venue – Martin is always very happy to make the main announcements for the day – we love to help everything go smoothly – guests just love to be “kept in the loop” and we can do that for you – we would plan it all with you pre-Wedding.
